Lamayuru Monastery & Moonland
Ancient Buddhist heritage set against Ladakh’s surreal moon-like landscapes.
Lamayuru Monastery, also known as Yungdrung Tharpaling, is one of the oldest and most dramatic monasteries in Ladakh. Perched on a hilltop, it overlooks the striking terrain known as Moonland.
Moonland is famous for its naturally eroded formations that resemble the surface of the moon, making Lamayuru one of the most visually unique destinations in the region.
The monastery belongs to the Drikung Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism and offers a powerful blend of spirituality, history, and raw Himalayan scenery.
